We're excited to announce Split3r version 1.3.0, our most comprehensive update yet. This major release brings a completely redesigned interface, powerful new cutting capabilities, and enhanced analysis tools to streamline your 3D printing workflow.

Built with your feedback in mind: We've incorporated as many customer requests and suggestions as possible to make Split3r more powerful and intuitive.

Available to all Split3r users: Kickstarter backers and post-campaign customers alike.

Complete UI Overhaul

Split3r 1.3.0 features a ground-up visual redesign, preparing the foundation for the upcoming "Extract" command while delivering immediate usability improvements.

New Interface Layout:

• Persistent WorkZone on the left for instant file access
• Options panel relocated to the right for streamlined workflow
• Dark and Light modes, choose your preferred visual environment

Enhanced WorkZone:

Each file now includes a visibility icon (next to the checkbox) that lets you display parts in semi-transparent overlay mode, making it easier to visualize how pieces fit together before finalizing your cuts.

Advanced Cutting Tools

Redesigned Cut by Plane

Take complete control over your cutting operations with two new modes:

• Cut Selected: Precisely cut only the selected area of your model (orange plane in the picture above)
• Cut All: Apply cuts across the entire plane

Modified files are automatically stored in your WorkZone for easy management and iteration.

Connector Tab Options:

Add structural integrity to your cuts with flexible tab configurations:

• Single central tab with adjustable sizing for precise control
• Multiple tabs for larger pieces requiring additional support points

Interactive Presplit

Mouse-Driven Plane Adjustment

Position cutting planes with unprecedented precision:

• Click the Move X, Y, or Z button
• Select the plane you want to adjust
• Drag to your desired position
• Remaining planes automatically recalculate based on your printer dimensions

Streamlined controls: Presplit options have been relocated to the right panel for better workflow integration.

Intelligent File Analysis

New Pre-Analysis System

Before processing, Split3r now pre-analyzes your STL file structure and presents smart options:

File structure report: Shows the number of bodies detected in your file

When multiple bodies are detected, choose:

• Analyze as-is : Process the file without modifications
• Keep largest body only : Automatically discard smaller elements
• Keep top N bodies : Retain only the N largest bodies
• Keep all bodies : Preserve everything and create separate entries in the WorkZone

Note :  Your original file is never destroyed, you can always restart analysis with different settings.

Enhanced Repair Engine

Our repair algorithms have been significantly improved to handle even the most challenging files. Three specialized repair options give you the right tool for any situation:

1. Standard Repair Algorithms

Merges multiple bodies, fixes holes, resolves self-intersecting faces, and corrects inverted normals, ideal for most use cases.

2. Split3r Algorithm

Optimized for organic shapes and AI-generated models. This enhanced algorithm (deep repair) successfully repairs many files that other tools can't handle, making it particularly effective for AI-generated content and sculptural models.

Note: May not be optimal for mechanical/CAD files.

3. Blender Algorithms

Alternative repair option when standard methods don't produce desired results.

Non-destructive workflow:

Original files remain in your WorkZone. Simply double-click the source file and retry with a different repair option, experiment until you get the perfect result.

While our enhanced algorithms successfully repair the vast majority of problematic files, occasionally heavily corrupted files may be beyond automated recovery , we recommend sourcing high-quality STL files when possible for the best results.

Note : Your original file is never destroyed, you can always delete the repaired file and restart Repair with different settings.

Explode Mode

A new visualization mode has been added to improve the readability of split parts.

Explode Mode displays each separated piece using a distinct color, making it easier to identify individual segments after a split operation.

Explode Mode integrates with the existing visibility options (Visible / Transparent).

This mode can be activated:

• By clicking the M button
• Or by using the keyboard shortcut M

By assigning a different color to each piece, Explode Mode allows faster visual inspection of the generated parts and helps verify split results more efficiently.

This feature simplifies the verification of complex splits before preparing the parts for 3D printing.

General Improvements

Automatic Update Notifications

Stay current effortlessly, Split3r now checks for new versions automatically at launch.

No more manual website visits to see if an update is available.

You'll be notified immediately when a new release is ready to download.

Bug Fixes

All known bugs in version 1.2.0 (except for a few translation issues) have been fixed. Delivering a more stable and reliable experience.
